Under a 4x4 academic calendar, the school year is divided into two semesters, during each of which students take an average load of 4 courses. This differs from the straight semester academic calendar under which students take an average load of 5 courses per semester. Under the 4x4 system, courses are typically worth four credits each. Some schools that use the system, however, completely dispense with the credit system and make each course worth one course unit.
The following is a list of colleges and universities that are on the 4x4 calendar (or something very close to it). Along with each are links to departments and general education requirements.
