Dr. Griffiths has developed a new mathematics course, Math118 - Mathematics for Natural Science to better prepare students for college calculus (fall 2009).
Dr. Redmond is teaching two brand new computer courses this year (2009-2010):
  1. Processing is used as our Programming I course. Processing is an open source programming language and environment for people who want to program images, animation, and interactions. It is used by students, artists, designers, researchers, and hobbyists.
  2. Spatial Data Analysis (Spring 2010) - This is a course on descriptive and exploratory analysis of geospatial data.
Dr. Griffiths has completely revised the internet programming sequence to mesh with our exciting new digital media program (2009-2010).
  1. Internet Programming I This is not a course in web page production or graphic design; but rather an introductory programming course. As a programming class, we will learn to create valid web content using a simple text editor (a strong emphasis on validity and web standards compliance). The focus of the class will be on (X)HTML, CSS, and the apache web server.
  2. Internet Programming II This class will continue building on our programming skills in XHTML, and CSS. We will develop a web application, learning PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, and possibly AJAX or ActionScript.
We are continuing to offer the well received new courses from last academic year (08-09):
  1. 3d programming and Animation (Alice)
  2. Web Mapping (GIS)

We have been working hard with the Applied Forensic Sciences Department to get their new (Solaris 10) server deployed, anthfs.mercyhurst.edu.
