Computer Labs - Mercyhurst College

     The Mathematics and Computer Systems Computer labs are located in the basement of Old Main. The main lab consists of 30 computers and the advanced lab consists of 21computers. There are also 6 computers outside the labs for students to use while the labs are occupied by classes. Department maintained servers are also located here. The labs have wireless access to the Mercyhurst network.
      The advanced lab computers dual boot into Windows Vista or the Linux Fedora operating system. Currently the main lab computers have the Windows XP operating system. All of the computers have Microsoft Office 2007, Visual Studio and SQL installed on them. Several other software development packages such as MySQL, php, perl, and apache are available. The symbolic algebra computation systems of Derive and Maxima, the statistical package R and various other programs for mathematics are available in the labs.
      Students enrolled as a major or minor in mathematics or computer systems can obtain Microsoft operating systems, Visual Studio and several other Microsoft products from the department for free. This does not include Microsoft Office or Front Page!
