In The News - The Mathletes will be holding their second annual reverse raffle sometime this spring. Last year everyone had a great time and many students were helped. This year’s raffle promises to be even better. Interested in attending or donating? Send an email to bmccoy32@mercyhurst.edu.
Even it’s first few years the mathletes have done many activities together. We have attended the Mathematics Association of America conference, we have had speakers come in and talk to the club, and we went bowling. Our greatest achievement thus far was rising over $1,000 for an elementary schools math program by organizing and hosting a reverse raffle.
What does it mean to be a mathlete? Being a mathlete means that you attend a few meetings a year. These meeting are really fun and there are always snacks. At the meetings we discuss what the club would like to do. We delegate tasks for events. And have a good time. There is some work when it comes time for events but you usually work with a friend and the work is even fun.
Club Mission - The purpose of the Mercyhurst Mathletes Club is to explore the endless world of mathematics and to reach out and expose others to the benefit of the field. In addition, we intend to use our mathematical skills to better service our community.
